“Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there. The gospel is not a way to get people to heaven; it is a way to get people to God. It’s a way of overcoming every obstacle to everlasting joy in God. If we don’t want God above all things, we have not been converted by the gospel.”
― John Piper, God Is the Gospel: Meditations on God’s Love as the Gift of Himself
What in your life have you put before Christ?
I am in the process of changing my syndication engine – that is the delivery boy between my website and facebook, and twitter (etc). So for the next couple of days you might see posts in duplicate. Please bear with me until I get the bugs worked out.
I came across a quote by C.H. Spurgeon today… It coincides with my own feelings on missions and being a missionary. I’ve always felt that a missionary is simply a christian living as he ought to any way, in another country. I think Spurgeon says it better – “Every Christian is a missionary or an imposter.” This doesn’t necessitate (though God may ask it of you) spending your life in a mud hut in Africa. But it does mean you should be a missionary to those in your life who do not yet know the life saving good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Are you living as a missionary, – Intentionally leading conversations towards the gospel?by admin
Bondservant comes from the greek word Dulos which means:
a slave, bondman, man of servile condition
metaphor, one who gives himself up to another’s will those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing his cause among men
devoted to another to the disregard of one’s own interests
a servant, attendant
Thus a bond-servant under grace would be one who seeks to fully submit his will to Christ’s to advance God’s Kingdom. I write this to you as I prepare to leave the country and head to the United Kingdom to share the good news of the Gospel with a lost and dying world (not news to most of you I know). I’ve created this site to record my thoughts along the journey, to facilitate communication with my support base, and hopefully to spark interest in missions in others. Thanks for reading!
